Braford History

The Braford herd began in 2002 on Ferpa Boerdery in Cullinan, Gauteng.
Right from the get-go a strategic breeding programme was developed in order to develop a 5/8 3/8 Braford from the ground up. The results thus far have been inspirational.

F1 (50% HFD - 50% BMN) - Registered Hereford and Red Brahman cows are bred to Registered Red Brahman and Hereford bulls.

F2 (75% BMN - 25% HFD) - F1 Females are bred to Registered Red Brahman bulls.

F3 (5/8 HFD - 3/8 BMN) - F2 Females are bred to Registered Hereford bulls.

The F3 Calves are then bred to Australian ET Bulls. This cross creates the BonHaven Braford stamp - something fresh to insert into the industry. The results of using superior bulls on registered females from the start have been astonishing.
