Hereford History
The BonHaven Hereford herd was established in 1996.
The cattle run under extensive rangeland conditions on the foothills of the Stormberg Mountains. The farm is located 50km North of Tarkastad. The environment is harsh and often unkind. Therefore it takes the right type of female to thrive under these conditions. The cattle receive only the standard licks and supplements given to commercial cattle in the area.
The foundation females came from the Carrickmoor, Sanniesguns and Syferpan herds. Although the herd is primarily polled, horned genetics are infused from time to time.
Influential sires include BM Bon Time 2 A13, Killaloe Majesty 9919, SGH Trifecta 003, SGH Royal Jet 0250 and TH 14M 63N Tundra 1S.
Two very exciting new prospects are Bailout and Wall Street.
Recently, BonHaven Beef Cattle purchased Locheim Markwart 0688 for R360 000.
